Dagen började inte helt bra för Ubisoft i dag då deras DRM-system, uPlay, tydligen innehöll en enorm säkerhetslucka som, enligt rapporter, gjorde att folk kunde komma åt andra människors datorer via en enkla webblänkar. Tidigare rapporter nämnde att det fanns ett rootkit i klienten men riktigt så illa var det inte enligt en säkerhetsexpert på Trend Micro.
"This certainly looks like an easily exploitable software flaw, but I'm not sure I would go as far as calling it a rootkit.
The reports state the exploitable code is in the form of a browser plugin, the plugin does not attempt to hide its presence on your system and can be relatively simply disabled. It's not a malicious root, just really bad code,"
uPlay är som bekant nödvändigt att ha om man skall spela nyare Ubisoft-spel på sin PC.
Ubisoft släppte snabbt en patch för uPlay så det gäller att uppdatera klienten snarast som möjligt om man inte vill riskera att någon startar en massa program på ens dator.
