Avancerad växelriktare som sitter i Gemera
Nej David är alltså inte namnet på en ny megabil från Koenigsegg utan det handlar om en växelriktare som vi hittar i Gemera. Den är som bilderna visar väldigt kompakt men packar ändå hela 750 kW i sig. Namnet kommer från berättelsen om David och Goliat. Två stycken av dessa sitter i Gemera och de i sin tur omvandlar likström till växelström (sammanlagt 1,5 megawatt) som sedan går till de två elmotorerna. Växelriktaren tar upp en volym på tio liter och väger 15 kilo. De flesta elbilar som finns idag har tre stycken faser, David har sex. Mjukvaran till David utvecklar Koenigsegg själva och den ska man kunna uppdatera OTA (Over The Air).Koenigsegg kommer att erbjuda andra företag att köpa både elmotorerna och växelriktaren som de har tagit fram.

Koenigsegg creates class-leading SIC Inverter with 6-phase output and names it David
Megacar manufacturer and high-tech mobility solutions company, Koenigsegg charges ahead with class-leading inverter performance featuring six phases.
The state-of-the-art SIC six-phase inverter is fully developed in-house for the upcoming Gemera and other future needs.
Weighing only 15 kg with a volume of 10 liters, the ultra-compact inverter kicks out 1300 ARMS AC at 850 V (DC) over 6 phases, with up to 750kW of power. In double configuration (30 kg of weight with a volume of 20 liters) as mounted in the Gemera, there are 12 phases (6 per motor) with an output of 1.5MW, which is truly a new benchmark.
“As the inverter is smaller, lighter and more powerful than what we could find out there, we named it David, like in the story of David and Goliath,” says Koenigsegg’s Founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg.

David runs on proprietary Koenigsegg flexible algorithms and software that is continuously upgraded over the Koenigsegg cloud via OTA. David is capable of either running two motors independently or one motor up to 750kW. Fully sealed housing and quick connectors allow safe connection without opening the casing or using special tooling.
David is a part of Koenigsegg’s ground-up, in-house developed complete HV architecture which includes, but is not limited to, E-motors, batteries and controllers.
HV Systems Project Leader Boris Baskevitch, comments: “The result of this new integrated high-performance powertrain is top-rated power density, efficiency and system integration – a showcase of Koenigsegg pushing performance technology to new levels.”
Together with the to-be-disclosed Koenigsegg E-motors, battery and controllers, David is developed under the ISO 26262 regulatory framework and international high voltage safety standards. David is optimized for harsh automotive environments and designed to emit low electromagnetic emissions.
David also comes in versions directly busbar integrated with Koenigsegg E-motors, as an alternative to stand-alone integration via cable. Doing so will shrink David down to around 9 liters in volume.
As David and the other newly developed Koenigsegg HV components are aerospace-grade, there is also the possibility to use them for VTOL or other similar needs with further certification(s).
