Koskenkorva – the village that people can’t talk about Sponsrad video Video till Koskenkorva – the village that people can’t talk about Hela denna artikel är en annons There are few places left in the globalised world where an internationally awarded product is so tightly fused to a place of origin so small and remote, that the village behind the brand is, in effect, forgotten. But such is the tale of a little village in the far north, with the name of Koskenkorva.‘There is a village that people can’t talk about.’ It sounds like an improbable movie script, but it isn’t. The barley farmers of Koskenkorva, in Western Finland, are not allowed to advertise the product that they get their livelihood from, Koskenkorva Vodka, (or even talk about the double-win, for example, at the latest Vodka Masters competition) as Finland’s strict alcohol laws prohibits any advertising. This alone may not be that surprising, but it has lead to some bizarre situations where people from the village that share the same last name can’t open any business, for example. And when one considers the fact that the brand and the village are really inseparable in the hearts and minds of the 2,100 inhabitants, one arrives at a situation where villagers must be very diplomatic about how they talk about their own home, and the award winning vodka they have crafted there since the early 1950’s. 37.0° 0 Annons
