Här ovan kan man beskåda en intervju med John Carmack, som numera är Oculus Rifts nya Chief Technology Officer, där han nämner att konsumentenheten kan använda sig av Android samt ett System-on-a-Chip-system när den väl släpps någon gång nästa år.

"The way I believe it's going to play out is you will eventually have a head-mounted display that probably runs Android, as a standalone system, that has a system-on-a-chip that's basically like what you have in mobile phones,"
Han pratar även om att han jobbar hårt på att göra glasögonens positionering samt head-tracking bättre så eventuellt lagg blir så minimalt som möjligt i konsumentversionen.

"A lot of the work at Oculus has gone into working out better position tracking. The tracking side is something that there hasn't been as much of a push for and we're frantically working on a lot of that, because that is one of the other really large issues. But we expect that the next developer kit will have higher resolution and position tracking addressing some of these significant issues."
På tal om Oculus Rift så nämnde företagets VD, Brendan Iribe, under Gaming Insiders Summit att 4K-upplösning är något som man gärna vill ha i dessa virtual reality-glasögon.

"I do think resolution needs to be better for the best VR, but even at low resolution you can get a good experience. I'm not going to say that this is the best experience, or that resolution isn't important; it's a really critical factor and this is good as it gets today. We're going to be building one at double this resolution within a year and even more after that, so there's a lot of other things to work on besides resolution. We can't just sit around and wait for 4K displays to hop around."
