Tut i luren - idag är det Towel Day!

Det är inte bara införandet av GDPR som ska firas idag då det idag även är den så kallade handduksdagen "Towel Day".Towel Day instiftades för att hylla författaren Douglas Adam (1952-2001). Tanken är att Douglas Adams-fans ska bära runt på en handduk idag. Precis som karaktärerna i Adams bok The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy gör med andra ord. Här i Sverige uppmärksammas Towel Day bland annat i Borlänge, Gävle och Örebro. Vad som händer där kan ni kolla in i faktarutan nedan.

Towel Day in Sweden
In Borlänge, Ulf Skei will spend the day at the library cafe drinking almost but not totally tea and reading h2g2. Do join if you feel like it. Remember your towel.
In Gävle, "Gefle Science-Fiction" will meet up at the local water hole, a.k.a The Bishops Arms, and celebrate Towel Day from 15:00-ish. Recitation of vogon poetry are optional, beer and peanuts (and towels!) are mandatory. All while waiting for the world to end. The Bishops Arms are to be found at: http://tinyurl.com/on8shbv
In Örebro, Towel Day is celebrated with a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy-themed meetup and dinner! (yes, at the very end of the universe, where else?) It is organized by two geekettes at the ABF (the Workers' Educational Assocation, Sweden’s largest adult liberal education association). Everyone is welcome and visitors are of course encouraged to wear a towel. They start at 17.00 at ABF Örebro, Fredsgatan 18. The evening contains high points such as dinner, a Hitchhiker's quiz, an art exhibition and information about our nerd-themed study groups and lectures. They also have Örebros own comic book library with them this evening, to offer easy access to Hitchhiker's-related literature and other nerdy book stuff! Afterwards, they´re going to the local pub to wait for the end of the world. This event is part of an platform they call "Nördkultur" that regularly holds study groups and lectures on subjects like super heroes, table top and science fiction novels.
