Alfonso Ribeiro stämmer Epic för Carlton-dans i Fortnite

Epic Games har tagit inspiration från mer eller mindre hela världen till de olika danserna i spelet. Vissa danser är varianter av originalen, medan andra är direkta kopior. Carlton-dansen, som går under namnet Fresh i Fortnite, är en av de sistnämnda. Någon som inte verkar uppskatta detta är Alfonso Ribeiro som nu lämnat in en stämningsansökan till Epic Games. Enligt TMZ håller Ribeiro på att varumärkesskydda dansen och han ska inte bara ha stämt Epic Games för olovlig användning, utan också 2K Games som inkluderade dansen i NBA 2K16 utan att ge kompensation till Ribeiro. Till TMZ säger Ribeiros jurist detta om stämningarna: “It is widely recognized that Mr. Ribeiro’s likeness and intellectual property have been misappropriated by Epic Games in the most popular video game currently in the world, Fortnite. Epic has earned record profits off of downloadable content in the game, including emotes like ‘Fresh.’ Yet Epic has failed to compensate or even ask permission from Mr. Ribeiro for the use of his likeness and iconic intellectual property.”Detta är inte första gången Epic Games potentiellt hamnat i trubbel för Fortnite-dans. Nyligen stämde rapparen 2 Milly Epic Games då utvecklarna använt hans danssteg i Fortnite. Även artisten Chance The Rapper har några väl valda ord att säga om Epics beteende och skriver detta i ett Twitter-inlägg:
