Och EA hintar om hur många enheter som sålts

Microsoft har släppt sin kvartalsrapport och meddelar bland annat att antalet aktiva användare på Xbox Live ökat med 30 procent sedan förra året och nu uppgår till 48 miljoner.

Så här säger Kevin Turner, chief operating officer vid Microsoft, om ökningen.

“It was a strong holiday season for Microsoft highlighted by Surface and Xbox. Our commercial business executed well as our sales teams and partners helped customers realize the value of Microsoft’s cloud technologies across Azure, Office 365 and CRM Online.”

Frågan är då fortfarande hur Microsoft står sig emot Sony när det gäller konsolkonkurrensen. Microsoft har tidigare konsistent valt att inte lämna ut några siffror på antalet sålda enheter. Dock har information från EA gjort bilden något klarare. Blake Jorgensen säger att deras prognos är att det finns 55 miljoner enheter på marknaden, både Microsoft och Sony inräknat. Eftersom Sony har redovisat försäljningssiffror och deras senaste prognos sa att de sålt 35,9 miljoner enheter så borde det då rimligtvis innebära att Microsoft sålt ungefär 19 miljoner enheter.

"I think our business seems to be operating pretty consistent as it has been over the last couple of years. The console purchases are up through the end of calendar year '15.
Our estimate is 55 million units out there which has exceeded virtually everyone's forecast for the year and now almost 50 per cent higher than previous console cycle so, all of that is very-very positive, all the gameplay we're seeing and the engagement and things like Ultimate Team we're seeing is positive.
We're just conscious of the fact that there's a lot of storm clouds out there, we want to be careful that we don't get ahead of ourselves or the economy in our forecast for the business and that's what you're hearing."
