AI leads church service in Germany
Will AI replace priests in the future?
Over the weekend, a test was conducted in the German city of Fürth to perform a church service written by OpenAI's artificial intelligence in collaboration with 29-year-old theologian and philosopher Jonas Simmerlein. The service was performed by digital avatars displayed on a screen, with around 300 attendees in the audience who wanted to listen to the "AI church service". The reactions to the service seem to have been mixed. Many thought that the AI did a good job, while some felt that the AI's performance lacked the soul and emotion that a human preacher can achieve. The AI-led service was part of the German fair "Deutscher Evangelischer Kirchentag", which is held every two years and usually attracts tens of thousands of believers to the cities where the fair is held. In the clip above, you can check out some highlights from the AI fair in Fürth.
