AI Burnham could make Astro more useful

Business Insider has obtained information indicating that Amazon is working on developing an artificial intelligence that could make robots in the smart home more useful.Amazon's new robot project is called "Burnham" and uses generative AI, the type of AI used in ChatGPT, to improve the functionality of robots. Robots with Burnham will be able to understand what they see in front of them and initiate conversations with humans, waiting for possible commands based on this. For example, the robot could detect if someone forgot to turn off a stove burner or shut off the faucet in the sink and then notify its owner. Another example mentioned is that the robot could detect glass shards on the floor and prioritize sweeping them up before notifying its owner of the accident. However, it does not seem that Burnham will appear in Amazon robots anytime soon. In the documents that Business Insider has seen, Amazon writes that there is a long way to go before Burnham can appear in actual products. Until then, one will probably have to settle for Amazon's smart home robot Astro, which Amazon presented in 2021. It costs $1,600 and has not received much criticism as it is not considered to be able to perform much in the smart home.
