Amazon receives support for Matter via iOS

More Echo speakers updated

It is now possible to start Matter via Thread from iOS with Amazon's Echo devices. Amazon previously rolled out an update that provided support for the new standard on the company's smart speakers, but the installation process was only available through Android.

At the same time, the second generation Echo, Echo Plus, and Echo Dot also receive support for the new standard, which is designed to make it easier for users to create a smart home with products from different manufacturers. The fourth generation Echo also receives Thread support and can now function as a Thread border router.

Amazon has also partnered with Eve, whose products previously only worked with HomeKit, to make them work better with Echo products that support Matter. They are therefore labeled "Works with Alexa".
