Aston Martin unveils DB12

More than a DB11 facelift?

Aston Martin has now unveiled the new DB12 model, which they describe as the "world's first super tourer". Many may not see it as revolutionary but rather a facelift of its predecessor - the DB11. The headlights, bumper and larger grille are new but the overall design is still recognizable. The side mirrors are slightly smaller but everything else from the A-pillar back is mostly the same as the DB11. The car features new 21-inch wheels that are eight kilograms lighter than the 20-inch wheels on the DB11. The interior has a new steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system has a 10.25-inch screen and includes 4G, Android Auto, and Apple Carplay. The car can have up to 15 speakers, carbon fiber seats, and carbon fiber accents throughout the interior. The instrument panel is very flat and not very exciting, but it does have many physical buttons, which is a plus.

Under the hood the car has a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged Mercedes V8 engine that produces 680 horsepower and 800 Newton-meters of torque. This is a significant increase from the DB11 which has the same engine but only produces 535 horsepower and 675 Newton-meters of torque. It is also more powerful than the old V12 engine, which had 639 horsepower. The car can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 325 km/h. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels.

The DB12 will be launched in the third quarter, but the price has yet to be announced.
