BMW unveils electric hydrofoil boat
Developed in collaboration with Tyde
BMW has now launched a completely electric hydrofoil boat. But it's not something they've put together at a car factory, it's a collaboration with boat builder Tyde. The creation is called Icon and it's supposed to be able to reach speeds of over 30 knots. Six battery packs from BMW's i-models provide 240 kWh and the boat should be able to travel 50 nautical miles (around 100 kilometers) on a single charge. To add a little flair composer Hans Zimmer has created a soundtrack for the boat that can be enjoyed while cruising on the open sea. Unfortunately, we don't get a taste of that just yet. The onboard stereo system is said to support Dolby Atmos and promises a very pleasant audio experience. However, remember that there are no shortcuts to the perfect sound. What will come of this collaboration in the future remains to be seen. Read more about the project at the link below.
