China becomes world's largest car exporter
Up by 58 percent
A car from China
At the beginning of the year we wrote that China could title itself as the world's second-largest car exporter. However, they have now taken over the lead and become the largest of them all. The reason is both that the demand for electric cars has increased enormously and that sales in Russia are still ongoing. Compared to the first three months of last year, China shipped 58 percent more cars during the same period this year. Between January and March the total number of vehicles landed at 1.07 million (of which 380,000 were electric cars). The total figure for Japan during the same period was 950,000 vehicles. China's largest markets were Belgium, Australia and Thailand.
