ESA to broadcast live from Mars tonight
Here you can check it out
Today marks 20 years since the European Space Agency (ESA) launched its Mars satellite, Mars Express, from Earth. To celebrate, ESA will be broadcasting live images to us here on Earth for the first time ever. The images will be captured by the camera shown below, which was originally designed to film the separation of the British Mars lander, Beagle 2, and Mars Express. James Godfrey, Spacecraft Operations Manager at ESA, says:"This is an old camera, originally planned for engineering purposes, at a distance of almost three million kilometres from Earth – this hasn’t been tried before and to be honest, we’re not 100% certain it’ll work."ESA's live broadcast from Mars Express will begin at 6:00 PM tonight and can be viewed on YouTube below. The delay in the images transmitted from Mars is estimated to be around 18 minutes.
