Ford promises to keep Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Not following GM's footsteps
Ford CEO Jim Farley confirms in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that the car manufacturer will not follow in the footsteps of Tesla, Rivian, or GM. Instead of ditching CarPlay for its own solution, Ford will keep Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its vehicles.About a month ago, GM announced that it would stop offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its future electric cars and instead only offer its own solution based on Android Automotive. This was not well received by many and may have contributed to Ford now coming out and stating that they will continue to invest in these solutions. Farley says that they already lost the battle for content in the car ten years ago and that he doesn't believe they would have gained much from it anyway.
