Yesterday, Apple released a teaser for the upcoming season of their sci-fi epic Foundation, the TV series based on Isaac Asimov's novels in the so-called Foundation trilogy.

The second season of the series takes place around a hundred years after the first season, and a kind of religion has emerged around the creator of the Foundation, Hari Seldon. Apple writes about the new season:

"More than a century after the season one finale, tension mounts throughout the galaxy in Foundation season two. As the Cleons unravel, a vengeful queen plots to destroy the Empire from within. Hari, Gaal, and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself. The Foundation has entered its religious phase, promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with the Empire. The monumental adaptation of Foundation chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties, and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity."

The second season of Foundation consists of ten episodes. The first episode premieres on July 14th, and a new episode will be released every Friday thereafter.
