According to sources contacted by CNBC, the US trade authority Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will attempt to block Microsoft's purchase of gaming giant Activision Blizzard. The reason for FTC's lack of approval is reportedly due to concerns that the acquisition could hinder competition in the gaming market and risk making Microsoft too dominant a player.Last year, Microsoft announced its plans to acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. The British competition authority Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has already stated that they will block the deal, while the EU's competition authority has approved the deal under certain conditions.
