Google to increase secrecy with AI advancements
New discoveries to become products before sharing

According to The Washington Post, Google is planning to become more secretive about its breakthroughs in AI. Google and DeepMind, which it acquired over nine years ago, have previously published progress such as Transformer (the "T" in GPT). However, instead of showcasing progress before creating a product with the technology, the company now wants to reverse that model. Therefore, we should first see a product from Google with new AI technology before the company publishes scientific articles on the subject. According to the Washington Post, it is Google Research leader Jeff Dean who has introduced the new policy.
