Google to start deleting inactive accounts
To prevent misuse

Google has updated its policy for inactive accounts, which means that Google may now start deleting accounts that have not been active for two years. The reason for this is that Google believes that inactive accounts are more likely to be hacked by unauthorized individuals and used for spam, phishing, and other activities that violate Google's guidelines. An inactive account refers to an account where no one has logged in or performed any other activity in the past two years. Google does not explicitly state that it will delete all accounts that have been inactive for two years, but it may do so. If an account has been inactive for two years, all material from services such as Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Meet, Google Calendar, Google Photos, and YouTube that is linked to the account may be deleted.Google's policy regarding inactive accounts only applies to personal accounts, not accounts linked to any business, according to a blog post by Google. Google will not start deleting inactive accounts until December 2023 at the earliest.
