Comic book artist John Romita Jr. announced earlier today that his father, the legendary comic book artist John Romita Sr., has passed away.

John Romita Sr. began his career in the comic book industry at Marvel's predecessor, Timely Magazine, in 1949. There, he met Stan Lee and later started working for Marvel on titles such as "The Amazing Spider-Man". Romita Sr. was responsible for creating Marvel characters like Mary Jane Watson, The Punisher, and Wolverine. He also worked for Marvel's competitor, DC Comics, for a few years in the 1950s and 1960s.
