Everything fits under the hood

Converting classic cars to electric has become increasingly popular and there are now many companies offering conversion kits. One of these is Electrogenic which we have written about before. They have now developed a new package designed to fit into a classic Mini, with the whole thing fitting under the hood of the small car. As it is a compact build, you won't get monster numbers, but it might be enough if you just want to take a Sunday drive every now and then. The electric motor provides 60 horsepower and 135 Newton meters, and the 20 kWh battery pack should provide a range of 120 kilometers. Not impressive at the charging station, but the solution is also quite small. What is not small is the price tag. To become the owner of such a kit you will have to cough up £15,000, which is a hefty sum. A version with a longer range and an extra battery pack in the trunk is said to be in the works. The kit is said to be easy to install and easy to take out again if you want to put the fossil engine back in.
