Lexus unveils new GX and all-new TX

Two new SUVs

Lexus is now rolling out not one, but two new SUVs. One is the updated GX and the other is the brand new model, the TX.

Let's start with the GX, which has received a new and quite angular look. The grille is big, but not as monstrous as on other new Lexus models. The predecessor had much softer lines and from the front, I get quite a lot of Range Rover vibes from this one. And since the current GX has been around for almost 14 years, a major update was needed, which this certainly is. In addition to being slightly larger, the model has also become more powerful. However, there is no V8 available, instead, you get a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6. It produces 354 horsepower and 650 Newton-meters of torque and is connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels. You can tow up to 3.6 tons. A hybrid drivetrain will be offered later. Inside, it can accommodate up to seven people. Sales start early next year, but it is unclear which countries the model will be offered in.

As for the TX, it is based on the Toyota Grand Highlander. It will be offered with three different powertrains, one of which is a V6 plug-in hybrid. The model is specially developed for the North American market and has three rows of seats so that everyone in the family or soccer team can fit, basically. Here too, the enormous grille is missing and the front is more of a unit, although you can still recognize it as a Lexus. The car measures 5.15 meters in length, 1.98 in width, 1.78 in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.94 meters. The plug-in hybrid is called the TX 550h+ and has a combined output of 412 horsepower and can travel up to 5.3 miles on electric power alone. It goes on sale this fall at an as-yet-unknown price.
