New games inducted into World Video Game Hall of Fame
Wii Sports and The Last of Us and more
The American game museum, Strong National Museum of Play, revealed yesterday which games have been honored this year to take their place in their so-called "World Video Game Hall of Fame". The four new games chosen this year are Wii Sports (2006), The Last of Us (2013), Barbie Fashion Designer (1996), and the over 50-year-old space game Computer Space, which was released in 1971.Among the nominated games that did not receive an award this year were Angry Birds, Age of Empires, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, GoldenEye 007, NBA 2K, FIFA International Soccer, Quake, and Wizardry. However, it is not entirely impossible that some of these games will be able to take their place in the World Video Game Hall of Fame in the future. The World Video Game Hall of Fame started in 2015, and among the games previously chosen are DOOM (1993), Pac-Man (1980), Pong (1972), Super Mario Bros. (1985), Tetris (1985), World of Warcraft (2004), The Legend of Zelda (1986), The Oregon Trail (1971), The Sims (2000), Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), Space Invaders (1978), Grand Theft Auto III (2001), Pokémon Red and Green (or Blue) (1996), Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (1991), Donkey Kong (1981), and Halo: Combat Evolved (2001).
