Pixies song shuts off Google Pixel alarm

A user of Google's Pixel phones has discovered that the song "Where Is My Mind?" by the American rock band Pixies can turn off the phone's alarm. This is because Google has included the ability to turn off the alarm via the voice command "Stop" to the phone.

To prevent music from turning off the alarm, Google has programmed Pixel to not listen to commands that seem to be part of song lyrics. However, in Pixies' song, there is a distinct "Stop" at the beginning of the song, which is probably difficult for the phone to perceive as part of a song. Reddit user Asevarte writes:

"The alarm is set to play a Spotify playlist, and one of the songs on that playlist is "Where is My Mind" by the Pixies. If you know the first line of that song, you may know where I'm going with this...
The first line in the song is "Ooohhh STOP", with the word "stop" said very clearly. My Pixel has been hearing that "stop" and turning the alarm off. Since it's a playlist on shuffle, it only comes up every once in a while, so it's not happening every morning."

If you use the alarm function on Google Pixel connected to a playlist, it may be a good idea to not include the "Where is My Mind" song in that playlist. Above, you can listen to Pixies' "Where is My Mind".
