Plant-based and 3D-printed electric car from Spain
Say hello to Liux Geko
Last fall we wrote about the Spanish electric car startup Liux and their pretty cool wagon Animal. Now their next model is being unveiled and it's the super-compact Geko, which like its sibling, is also going to be "green". The car will have plant-based materials in both the monocoque and the body, and several parts will be 3D-printed. The latter is said to reduce manufacturing times and, at the same time, reduce CO2 emissions. The car measures 2.7 meters in length and 1.5 meters in width. The electric motor which is located on the rear axle delivers 15 kW/20 horsepower and gets its power from a modular battery pack that is rated at 13 kWh. This should be recyclable and upgradable in the future as technology improves. The range for the 550-kilo lightweight car is expected to be 150 kilometers. At the moment there are only renderings of the car so we'll have to wait and see if and when it becomes a reality. The plan was for Animal to be launched at the beginning of next year, but this has been postponed indefinitely.
