Police may start using airless tires
Can not be punctured

Airless tires have been experimented with for a few years now, but they are still not something we see on the roads. The advantage of these tires is that they cannot be punctured, you don't have to carry a spare tire, and the environment can be less burdened because fewer tires need to be thrown away. Michelins vice president Bruno de Feraudy now reveals that they have received requests from police authorities throughout Europe who want this type of tire on their police cars. The tire model in question is the Uptis, which you can see in the picture here, and the police have reportedly tested it up to 210 km/h. The tests went well and this type of tire would make things easier in situations such as car chases, where criminals often try to puncture the police's tires if they get the chance. The Uptis tire is still in the prototype stage and it is unclear when it can start rolling out to those who are interested.
