Rivian R1T with dual motors now in production
Two is cheaper than four
The first example of Rivian's electric pickup truck, the R1T, with dual motors has now rolled off the production line. This version has half the number of motors as the others and is a cheaper option. It features Rivian's own Enduro motors, which they began using in their delivery vans in February. The vehicle still has four-wheel drive. The power output is just over 600 horsepower and torque is 812 Newton meters, which should be sufficient for most. However, the Enhanced Dual-Motor AWD upgrade provides over 700 horsepower and 948 Newton meters. If you opt for the large Max Pack battery you can expect a range of over 640 kilometers. The standard Large Pack offers up to 563 kilometers. In the US the R1T with dual motors starts at $73,000, while the R1S SUV in the same configuration starts at $78,000. The first customer deliveries will begin next month. The R1T with four motors starts at $87,000.
