Salesforce collaboration service Slack has jumped on the generative AI bandwagon and will soon allow its users to integrate various generative AI tools directly into the service. Existing tools such as ChatGPT can be integrated, but there is also the possibility to integrate custom AI tools in Slack for those who want to.

Slack states that AI tools could, for example, help summarize long message threads so that users do not have to read every message in a discussion that has been going on for a while. There is also the possibility to do more advanced things with generative AI in Slack, and they give an example:

"For example, say you have a workflow that alerts you when a new lead comes in from Sales Cloud, ensuring sales reps can quickly respond. Imagine if ChatGPT could take your workflow a few steps further, using CRM data from a sales lead to draft a personalized prospecting email? Put it in a document, share it in a channel, and now every sales rep has a head start when they follow up on the lead."

Slack GPT is still under development. There is currently no information on when it will be released to Slack users.
