Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse rakes in cash

Sony's biggest animated film ever

After less than two weeks in theaters, Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has surpassed its predecessor Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Over the weekend, the film grossed $226 million in the US and $390 million globally. The previous film grossed $190 million in the US and $384 million globally during its entire theatrical run.

Long before "Across the Spider-Verse" even began showing in theaters, Sony announced a third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, which will be released in 2024.
