Tesla Model Y is now the world's best-selling car

First electric car to achieve this feat

Now the Tesla Model Y has achieved something that no other electric car has managed before - to become the world's best-selling car. Last year the model became the best-selling in Europe and California and the fourth best-selling in China. But during the first quarter of this year it became the best-selling car in the world, knocking the Toyota Corolla off its throne. 267,200 units of the Model Y were sold compared to 256,400 of the Corolla.

If this trend continues for the Model Y it could very well surpass one million units sold by the end of the year. Last year Toyota managed to sell a total of 1.12 million Corollas, so that's the number the Model Y must beat to become the "winner".
