The design: rational, but not trivial

The original design of Piaggio 1 marries the essentiality dictated by the needs of urban electric mobility but without sacrificing the unmistakable style, quality of materials and assemblies that characterize the entire range of Piaggio scooters.

The front shield is at the same time compact and protective and incorporates in the upper part the classic “tie” that elegantly distinguishes Piaggio vehicles. On the sides stand out the LED headlights , whose particular design recalls the sharp and arched lines that are found in the side view of the vehicle, giving the whole a light and dynamic image. The information is shown through a graphic scheme of simple and immediate reading, but of great aesthetic impact: in the central part the speed indication is surrounded by indicators of the level of energy used or recovered while driving, by the state of charge of the battery and from the residual range in km, as well as from the numerous travel information, which can be selected using the MODE button, located both on the instrument panel and on the left control block: instant and average energy consumption, travel time, total and partial odometer (Trip A and B). The driving mode is shown in the lower part of the display, which can be selected using the specific MAP button on the right control block.

Driving: getting around has never been easier

Piaggio 1 is first and foremost a user friendly vehicle , which aims to improve and simplify everyday urban travel, an attitude that is perceived not only in driving, but in any operation, starting from ignition.

Thanks to the keyless system , Piaggio 1 does not require the traditional key, and can be started using the remote control and acting on a practical knob, which replaces the classic ignition switch: to start the vehicle, simply press the release button on the remote control (the unlocking is signaled by an acoustic warning and by the turning on of the luminous ring of the knob) and move the knob to the ON position.

To leave, simply press the MAP button on the right side of the handlebar (holding the brake lever pressed), selecting one of the two driving modes available: ECO and Sport (to which is added the Reverse mode , a reverse gear that can only be engaged when the vehicle is stationary to facilitate handling of the Piaggio 1 in confined spaces).

Version 1 is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 1.4 kWh and a weight of 10 kg, while the version 1 Active adopts a battery with a greater capacity, 2.3 kWh, for a weight of 15 kg.

The recharging operations are the simplest you can imagine: the lithium-ion battery, exactly like the one that equips modern smartphones, does not require maintenance or special precautions and to recharge it simply connect it to the charger supplied with the vehicle.

The standard time required for a full charge is 6 hours (with 220 V voltage). The battery guarantees excellent efficiency up to 800 complete charging cycles; after 800 cycles, the battery retains in any case 70% of its capacity and remains perfectly usable.

The battery is positioned in the compartment under the saddle, without however compromising its functionality: Piaggio 1 is therefore the only e-scooter in its class to offer a significant load capacity, with an under-saddle compartment capable of accommodating a full jet helmet .

The saddle opens by operating the ignition switch otherwise, if the battery has been removed, thanks to a special lock on the left side panel, whose key is hidden inside the remote control.

The technique

Piaggio 1 is an extremely light vehicle (75 kg without battery, 79 kg the 1 Active version), but it does not renounce a refined chassis, adopting the same technical solutions as traditional Piaggio scooters: the frame, designed for the performance and stresses of the for city use, it is a high-strength steel monotube with pressed sheet metal elements. The suspension system uses a single arm with coil spring and hydraulic single shock absorber at the front, while a double hydraulic shock absorber operates at the rear, to the benefit of ride comfort and safety.
