Davids blogg: Live

av David Bean, fotograf

I've spent the last couple days shooting a ton of live bands. Every year a week long music conference comes to Nashville where hundreds of bands showcase to record labels. I was hired to shoot some of the concerts.

Shooting concerts is a real nice diversion from the usual type of shooting. You have to think fast, keep pace with the musicians and wait for the rare moments when the lighting is just right. It's also a pain carrying around 2 cameras around your neck; one with a 24-70 lens and one with a 70-200.

In my opinion, shooting music and sports helps you develop fast shooting reflexes and good timing. And timing is so important when shooting anything, even a still model. Trying to find out a models rhythm helps you get them at the right moment, rather than a moment too late.

In the end I got some good shots. It was tough to choose one to represent the past few days, but I like this one for some reason. It sort of show the emotional depths these artists go to get the attention of a record label.
