Uber is in many ways a fantastic idea. In practice, it's also fantastic, especially when traveling because you can easily get a taxi in a smooth and safe way. Gone are the days when you got ripped off.

But everything is not perfect with either the app or the company. Now they are also planning to start showing commercials in their apps while the user is waiting for the taxi or food delivery.

"We have two minutes of your attention. We know where you are, we know where you're going, we know what you've eaten. We can use all of that to then target a video ad towards you," says Mark Grether from Uber.

The ads will roll out in the US this week and then they will come to the UK, France, and Australia. They also plan to install tablets in the taxis where they will show ads during the ride. I can live with ads popping up in the apps, they can be closed down, but sitting for 20 minutes watching a commercial in a taxi feels less exciting.
