EU imposes regulations on batteries in gadgets and cars
Great!

Today, batteries are found in almost everything we buy, from mobile phones to cars to surveillance cameras. But there aren't many regulations surrounding them, as there should be. Now, the EU has approved some regulations and they were passed with a wide margin, 587 in favor, nine against, and 20 absent. The first rule is that batteries for cars, electric scooters, bicycles, and other devices where the battery is over 2 kWh must have labeling regarding their carbon dioxide emissions. These batteries must also have a digital passport with specifications, model, and how it should be used. It should also become easier for users to replace batteries in products themselves. The exact details of how this will be implemented are a bit unclear from what I can see, but the intention is good. There will also be higher targets for battery recycling, both in terms of the percentage that is recycled and the amount of recycled material that should be present in batteries.
