Intel har presenterat ett nytt chip som specifikt tagits fram för Windows-datorer med så kallat Copilot+-stöd. Copilot+ PC är en kategori datorer som Microsoft och deras partners presenterade under gårdagen vilka har specifik hårdvara för att köra AI-applikationer.

Intels kommande chip Lunar Lake har en inbyggd NPU (Neural Processor Unit) som kan hantera 40 triljoner operationer i sekunden, något som är kravet för att få kalla en dator Copilot+-kompatibel. Intel skriver om Lunar Lake:

"Lunar Lake is expected to be a groundbreaking mobile processor for AI PCs with more than 3 times the AI performance compared with the previous generation. With more than 40 NPU tera operations per second (TOPS), Intel’s next generation processors will provide the capabilities necessary for Copilot+ experiences coming to market. In addition to the higher performing NPU, Lunar Lake will also be equipped with over 60 GPU TOPS delivering more than 100 platform TOPS."

Någon gång under årets tredje kvartal förväntas de första Windows-datorerna med Lunar Lake släppas på marknaden. Runt jul uppger Intel att över 20 datortillverkare tillsammans kommer att ha över 80 modeller som rullar på Lunar Lake.
