Ok, to begin somewhere, just tell us about what we see in the trailer. The trailer shows the meeting between Kane and Lynch, it's a little awkward since they haven't seen each other in a long time. Kane's in town for an arms deal, but Lynch needs to do one simple thing first, it blows up in their faces and sends them chasing through the streets of Shanghai.Lynch is clearly the star in Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, where did the inspiration for Lynch come from? From your typical bad guy. There is a noticeable difference in the graphical/camera style compared to the first game. What made you change the style and will it have some connections to gameplay mechanics? We wanted to be more realistic and credible with this title, so drawing upon references like documentary and reality TV, really helped that visual style along. The camera will react to bullet impacts with movement and digital artifacts. This really adds to the intensity. Why Shanghai? Shanghai is one of the coolest places, with its 24 million people it's a perfect place to hide if you are wanted on the entire western hemisphere.
I looks like some rough alleyways in the trailer, so how did you go about to capture the feeling and grittiness of the back alleys of Shanghai? We went there, and shot several thousand images, and a lot of video footage, we analyzed it and took from it what our perception of shanghai. The heat, smell, everything captured in the atmosphere of the game.
Let's talk about the level design in general. What can we expect to see except the previously mentioned alleyways? A very diverse set of locations some very unique to games in general. From highway shootouts to sweatshops and more that I won't reveal at this stage. The first game had some level destructibility, and shooting things up is always fun. Has this been expanded in Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days? I'm glad you ask that question, and to inform you that there will be a lot more destructible stuff this time around. In general, have you made any changes to the cover mechanics? In the trailer we see some people diving for cover for example, will this be possible in the final product? And related to this, what work have you done with the AI and the controls? Cover mechanics have been completely revamped, it's now button activated, and more intuitive. The AI is more in your face and agressive. You've already confirmed online co-op for the sequel, will you please tell us a bit more about how it is going to work? Will it be the single player campaign but for two people instead or will we see some additional game modes? Online coop will feature the entire story mode for online play. Coop is extremely important this time since we now feature an online coop, playing so Kane and Lynch just got twice as fun. Some very cool back to back moments against all odds, to be expected.Kane & Lynch: Dead Men offered some interesting and innovative competitive multi-player modes. What Fragile Alliances can we expect in Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days? Fragile Alliance is back, better and bigger than ever. More will be disclosed later. Will Jesper Kyd be back for the sequel? No, we went in a different direction this time with the music, new composers.Have you got any plans for DLC? Yes, but it will be revealed later. And last but not least: Are the squad mechanics from Kane & Lynch: Dead Men dropped from Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days in favor of the next, inevitable, Freedom Fighters game ;)? Yes we dropped the squad mechanics, to make way for a more Lynch like Shooter experience. And it warms my heart to hear about Freedom Fighter, since I worked on that title ;O) but no comments.
