PCI Express 8 presenterat
Kommer att bli dubbelt så snabbt som PCI Express 7
PCI-SIG, organisationen som hanterar PCIe ("Peripheral Component Interconnect Express"), en standard för att koppla in komponenter till moderkortet i en dator, har presenterat specifikationer för den framtida PCIe 8.0-standarden.
PCIe 8.0 är planerad att kunna överföra data dubbelt så snabbt som PCIe 7.0, en standard som släpps i år. Det innebär att vi snackar om hastigheter på 256 GT/s vilket motsvarar dataöverföring på upp till 1TB/s i en konfiguration med 16 datakanaler. Al Yanes, ordförande i PCI-SIG säger om PCIe 8.0:
"Following this year’s release of the PCIe 7.0 specification, PCI-SIG is excited to announce that the PCIe 8.0 specification will double the data rate to 256 GT/s, maintaining our tradition of doubling bandwidth every three years to support next-generation applications. With the increasing data throughput required in AI and other applications, there remains a strong demand for high performance. PCIe technology will continue to deliver a cost-effective, high-bandwidth, and low-latency I/O interconnect to meet industry needs."
