Bentley har nu tillverkat sin sista W12-motor
Över 100.000 har blivit till
Efter 20 år i produktion har Bentley nu monterat ihop sin allra sista W12-motor. Maskinen som är på 6,0 liter har dubbla turbo och den hade sin premiär i modellen Continental GT år 2003. Sedan dess har över 100.000 exemplar av motorn satts ihop för hand på Bentleys "Dream Factory" i den brittiska staden Crewe. Den första upplagan bjöd på 560 hästar och 650 newtonmeter medan den sista har hela 750 hästar och 1000 newtonmeter i vrid.
Andreas Lehe som är Member of the Board for Manufacturing hos Bentley Motors säger:
"The W12 has played such an important role in the history of Bentley that it was only right for us to celebrate the engine’s retirement with those linked to this powerplant. The engine’s introduction helped change the face of the company almost overnight and so will go down in history as a true game changer and we should feel very proud to have designed, developed and manufactured such an icon in Britain for such a long period of time."
Ersättaren till W12:an är en laddhybrid-V8:a som hade sin premiär i nya Continental GT Speed som presenterades för en månad sedan. Den levererar 782 hästar och 1000 newtonmeter i vrid.
